Frederick Leon Elkins, 65 of Elkins Branch Rd. passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Mission Hospital – Memorial Campus. He was a native of Buncombe County and son of the late Wilma Elkins Hamlin and step father Edward Hamlin. Mr. Elkins was a deacon at Piney Mountain Baptist Church and retired as a Central Office Technician with the Verizon Telephone Company.
He is survived by his wife Kay Anders Elkins; son, Zac Elkins and wife Adalee; sister, Dona Hamlin; brother, Edward Lee Hamlin and wife Phyllis and one niece Anna Lee Hamlin.
The family will receive friends 2:00 – 3:00pm Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Piney Mountain Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm. Reverend Steve Freeman will officiate the service.
