Daniel Bunyon “Danny” Wallin, 65, of Hwy NC 213, Marshall, went home to be with the Lord, May 16, 2017. He was in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Danny was born April 30, 1952, to the late Bunyon and Robbie Allen Wallin. He retired from NCDOT in 2012, and was currently employed by the Town of Mars Hill. Danny served as a commissioner for over 30 years for the Mars Hill Fire Department and was a member of Arrington Branch Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Ray Wallin; two children, Mark Wallin and wife Brooke, and Stephanie Wallin Payne and husband Brad; grandchildren, Amber Payne Banks (Cameron), Austin Payne, Blake and Logan Wallin; his special buddy, Brent Buckner; sisters, Ruby Cutshall (Clifford), Barbara Bradley (Bruce), Shirley Jo Shelton (Eldwin), Marie Morrow, Beulah and Cora Lee Wallin; brother, Robert Osborne (Linda); nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Brian Coates, Ken Parker and Gary Fender will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wallin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, at the funeral home.
