Obituary for Farrell Brady

Farrell Brady
Farrell Brady, 66 of Mars Hill, went to Heaven to be with Jesus, his Mama and Daddy, 3 brothers and sister, so many family members and his little buddy Ruger on June 22, 2017.

He leaves behind his dearly loved wife, Zelda Ree. They shared over 45 years of marriage together. Sometimes he drove her crazy but she loved him with everything in her!

He also leaves behind his son, Chris Brady. They were the best of friends. They loved to hunt and fish together. There’s no telling how many fish tales they have concocted over the years, however, the deer population was definitely diminished by those two!

He leaves behind his daughter Cyndi Gentry and her husband Keith. She was Daddy’s little girl and his favorite kid! Wink Wink!! He loved Keith as his own and has always called him son.

His most prized possessions were his granddaughters Morgan and Carlie. They were truly his delights! Paw and Grammy never missed anything the girls had going on, whether it was soccer games or art shows, he was always there. Every time he showed up at their house, his shirt pocket was full of some kind of treats for them. They will always sing the song he taught them, “Paw is great! He gives us chocolate cake!” They will forever miss him!

He will be missed by his sisters, Nadine Fisher, Elizabeth Buckner, Lynne Davis (Verlan), brother Jesse Brady (Laura), tons of nieces and nephews, his best friend Charles Ammons (Diane), great niece “Little Zoie”, his lifelong friends Donnie Griffin and Phillip Erwin, and his loving but very extended family by marriage.

Farrell was many things during his life, a DJ, the Pepsi Man, coach to numerous kids, and most recently Warehouse Manager at MAC Papers where he worked for over 17 years. He loved all of his “boys” that worked for him!!

He was a member of the Class of 1970 from Mars Hill High School with his nephew Ed Fisher. His presence will be missed at their monthly gatherings.

He never met a stranger. He had countless friends. A trip to Ingles with him always took 3 hours because of how many people he would stop and talk to.

Farrell was a big man with a big sense of humor and an even bigger heart. He loved nothing more than to laugh and cut up and be with the people he loved. He also loved his garden, grapevines, blackberry bushes and watching his perennial flowers and plants grow each year.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

There will be a Celebration of His Life on Friday June 30th at 7:00 pm in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service in Mars Hill. His family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 before the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Cyndi Gentry, 30 Salem Hill Rd in Weaverville.
