It is with great sympathy that I recognize the passing of Dr. Chapman. It was on his watch that I began my career with Yancey County Schools. It was a privilege to share time and space with such a great man as Dr. C. And to know Mamie Sue and Amy. Please be at peace. He is in loving hands.

There will never be words to adequately express what "Doc" has meant to me and our family throughout the years. He was greatly loved. My career in Yancey County was made possible by his unwavering support and guidance. Dr. Chapman was the embodiment of the positive behaviors we all strive for as educators. His approach was always sincere and straightforward. His legacy lives on in his family, his students and his colleagues. We shall endeavor to always do him proud.
