Obituary for Stephen Wayne Evans
Stephen Wayne Evans, 72 of 288 Jupiter Road went home to be with his Lord, November 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 8, 1945 to the late Orde R. Evans of Lafayette LA. and Madeline Brown Evans of Memphis TN. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Richard Evans and sister,
Roma Lynn Marks, both of Lafayette, LA.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Juanita Ramsey Evans; a daughter, Christina Duyck (Fred) of Asheville and son Patrick Evans (Karen) of Hendersonville; sisters, Sandi Messeeman (Tom) of Aiken, SC and Susan Breaux (Raymond) of Lafayette, LA. He has several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, plus numerous other family members and friends who will also miss him. With special thanks to Novile Ramsey for all his help during his illness.
Mr. Evans worked in the oil fields and as a contractor in LA prior to moving to Asheville where he worked as Respiratory Therapist before joining Buncombe County Sheriff Department then Asheville Police Department until his retirement in 1994 but continued to work as adjutant professor of Criminal Justice at AB Technical College until 2004.
A memorial service will be held 6:00PM Friday, December 1, 2017 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Ben Whitmire and Cindy Coleman will conduct the service. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times the family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care Partners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
