Obituary for Faye Slagle (Robinson)

Faye Robinson Slagle, 90, of Locust Grove Road, passed away at Blue Ridge Hospital in Spruce Pine after a brief illness. Faye was born in Madison County on December 31, 1927, to the late Brownlow and Bertha Allman Robinson. She was a lifetime member of Laurel Bend Baptist Church. Faye was a loving, caring and wonderful mother. She was the happiest when all her family was together at the many gatherings. Most recent was her 90th birthday and Christmas celebration at the Yancey House, where she resided for the past two and a half years. She was blessed with many good friends and a large extended family. Faye looked forward to spring, as she loved planting her garden and taking care of the flowers in her yard as long as she was able.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Vaughn Slagle who died October 1, 2014; her daughter Shirley Cody who died January 2, 2008, and great grandson Brandy King.
She is survived by her children, Jack Slagle (Aldree), Betty Hooper (Gene), Morris Slagle (Shirley) and a son-in-law, Maynard Cody, 7 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 7:00pm Friday, January 12, 2018, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Jerry Shelton and Cline Junior Hensley will officiate. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm, prior to the service. The burial will be held 11:00am Saturday, at the Shelton Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Yancey House who took such great care of their mother and the staff at the Blue Ridge Hospital who showed so much respect and care for Faye and her family.
