Obituary for William McArthur "Bill" Roberts
William “Bill” McArthur Roberts, 75, went to be with his Lord and wife of 49 years, Amelia Coates Roberts, Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was the son of the late Byron and Ruth Capps Roberts. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mattie Ruth Roberts and brother, Paul Reuben Roberts.
William was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of North Buncombe High School Class of ’61. He retired from Buncombe County School Maintenance. He often said, the most enjoyable job he had was delivering Sealtest Milk house to house, where he got to meet a lot of people and make a lot of friends. He loved to talk and get to know people. He was an avid dog lover and a big kid at heart.
He is survived by sister-in-law Juanita Roberts; nieces and nephews, Pam Tweed, Susan Pike, Lisa Hale, Tim Roberts (Marcia), Scott Hale, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. A service will be held at 2:00PM with Reverends Phillip Parker and Gene Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
