Harold was a dear and compassionate friend who helped me so much during the course of our long friendship. I will always cherish his sense of humor and his willingness to help me without ever expecting anything in return. My younger son Rod always looked forward to the times, many years ago. when he could spend the weekend with Emerson and Harold and play basketball in "Phillips Arena." Harold was one of the first people I met when I began teaching at Dreher High School in 1971 and, and as a testament to our enduring friendship, he and Kathie were present at my retirement party thirty years later. The students he taught loved him as a teacher, friend, and role model. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
