Gladys Irene Rice Edwards, 90, went to meet Jesus and her husband Attley in the early morning hours of March 9, 2018. She was a loving and generous person who loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Attley Edwards, her mother and father Douglas H. and Minnie Clark Rice of Mars Hill, her brothers Paul, D.C., and Troy Rice all of Mars Hill and sisters Gypsy Rice and Rosie Ball also of Mars Hill.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara George of Apex, NC; son, AJ and wife Judy of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Sherrie Minkin and husband Mark of Woodfin,NC; son, Johnny Edwards and son Jeff Edwards and wife Donna of Weaverville, N.C., as well as 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center of Woodfin for the loving care given to Gladys during her stay there.

The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00pm on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with a celebration of life immediately after. Mark Minkin will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Bull Creek Cemetery.
