Obituary for Ama Lee Shelton (King)

Ama Lee (King) Shelton, 91, of Marshall, NC went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2022. Ama Lee was born May 1, 1931, in Madison County, NC to the late Roscoe & Matilda (Hensley) King. She married Luther Junior Shelton on December 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2005. Also preceding her in death are her grandson, Kenneth Gluff; son-in-law Homer Gluff; brothers: Mason King, Beechard King, Richard King, Clinton King; sisters: Roebertie Shelton, Marie Shelton, Verna Lee Shelton, and Gladys Cantrell.

Ama Lee was a faithful member of Carmen Church of God. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in spending time with them, visiting with other relatives and friends. She was truly a “virtuous woman whose price was far above rubies” who was loved and will be dearly missed by everyone. She left a great legacy by her faith in God and her love for others. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law anyone could hope for. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jerry (Deborah) Shelton, Upland, IN; Christine Gluff, Fairmount, IN; Linda (Tommie) Shelton, Marshall, NC; Charlotte (Mike) Hensley, Greeneville, TN; her grandchildren: James Gluff, Fairmount, IN; Brad (Carolyn) Shelton, Chambersburg, PA; Tina (Kenney) Thorpe, Marshall, NC; Amy Mowat, Upland, IN; Randy (Heather) Shelton, Burnsville, NC; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters: Lou (Wayne) Cannup, Concord, NC; Beatrice (Jennings) Herman, Concord, NC; Pauline Carter, Mars Hill, NC; Thelma Johnson, Mars Hill, NC; brother: Carson (Delores) King, Marshall, NC; sisters-in-law: Louella King, Carolyn King; brothers-in-law: Zeb Shelton, Dariel Cantrell, Doyle Dixon; several nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Carmen Church of God at 4 pm. Reverend Eric Young will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A burial will follow in the Carmen Church of God Cemetery.
