Charles William Silvers age 62, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 28, 1961, in Buncombe County to the late Ernest and Molly Fields Silvers.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as Hull Maintenance Technician. From 1983 – 1985 he served on the USS Kalamazoo and from 1989 – 1991 was doing damage control on the USS Forrestal. He retired as a truck driver. Charles was a devoted Christian, very kind, giving and grateful to all. He loved his church family and his work family. If you ever met him, you wouldn’t forget him. Charles was also a very proud veteran who loved his country. He will be missed beyond words. He was a proud father and grandfather.
He is survived his loving wife, Gloria Buchanan Silvers; daughters, Emily, and Rachel Silvers; sons, John and James Silvers; grandchildren, Mikayla, Ellie, and Gretta; sister, Hazel Wilson; niece, Susan Ellege (Jerome); nephew, Michael Burrell; and two fur babies, Buster and Penny.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday March 12, 2023, in The Celebration Church, 2 Boyds Chapel Road, Weaverville. Reverends Jim Moore and Larry Rogers will officiate. Military Honors will be held at the church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
Those who do not want to come into the church may listen to the service in the comfort of your car by tuning your radio to FM 90.1 while in the parking lot.
