Obituary for Clifton Ray Robinson

Clifton Ray “Cliff” Robinson, age 85, of Weaverville, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Clifton was born April 24, 1937 in Mars Hill to the late Elva Theodore and Lucy Gertrude Buckner Robinson. He enjoyed auctions, building dollhouses for his grandchildren, gardening, especially sharing the bounty from his handy work in the garden with family and friends. Clifton served our nation in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Jackson, Fort Devens serving as an instructor in the Army Security Agency and stationed in Cyprus as an intercept operator. He worked in the food service industry, manufacturing, was a retired sales representative from Anton Chevrolet and as a funeral service associate with West Funeral Home. He was a member of the Bald Creek Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #397, serving as Master, District Deputy Grand Master and very involved with disaster relief and Habitat for Humanity. Clifton was a faithful member of Newbridge Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Riddle Robinson; sister, Joyce Ingle and her husband, Milo; brother, Reverend Dale Robinson and his wife, Sheila and brother-in-law Bruce Jamerson.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betty Jo Wright Rogers Robinson; daughters, Sandra Banks (Tom), Karen Byrd (Mike); step-daughter, Jill Samz (Jeff); step-son, Eric Rogers; sister, Carolyn Jamerson; grandchildren, Cliff Banks (Chelsie), Seth Phillips (Leah), Audrey Byrd, Erica Rogers-Land (Stephen), Paige Samz and Riley Samz; great grandchildren, Caydence, Corbin, Wyatt and Emmy and brother-in-law, Michael Wright.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2022 in Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804. Reverend Clark Henderson and Clifton's niece Darlene Swanson will officiate. The service will stream live on the Newbridge Baptist Church Facebook Page. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville with masonic graveside rites conducted by the Bald Creek Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #397.

The family will receive friends 12:30 to 1:45 pm on Friday before the service.
