Obituary for David S Roberts Sr.
David Stewart Roberts, Sr., 90, of Weaverville passed away October 21, 2022. He was the son of the late Wayne and Jamie Cole Roberts.
David was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a charter member of the North Buncombe Optimist Club, served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, worked with Bell South for 31 years, and was an active member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, serving as deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and cemetery chairman. He always had a smile, encouraging words, and limitless hugs. He spent his life walking in the footsteps of Jesus and showing us all what that looks like. It’s not going to be the same here without you. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Dick, Rodney and Don Roberts.
Left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 67 years, Jean Rice Roberts; daughter, Melanie Ratchford; sons, David Roberts, Jr. (Kathy), Daryl Roberts (Laura); grandchildren, Jamie Roberts (Mika), Clarissa Roberts (Rodrick), Cole Roberts, Kinley Ratchford (Vien), Davis Roberts and Laura Lou Franklin; great grandchildren, Josie, Jersey, Evie, Addie, and Malcolm.
A funeral service will be held 12:30pm Friday October 28, 2022, at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Hanrahan officiating. The burial will follow in the Church Cemetery, 21 Flat Creek Church Rd., Weaverville, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:30 prior to the service.
