Obituary for Dennis Caye Wells

Dennis C. Wells, 70 of Mars Hill NC, passed away at the John F. Keever Solace Center on October 23, 2019 following complications from brain surgery. Dennis was born in Haywood County and was a graduate of Canton High School. Dennis graduated from Mars Hill College on a football scholarship. Dennis spent the early part of his career teaching and coaching at T.C. Roberson and Pisgah High Schools. Dennis later became a sales executive for various freight businesses, retiring from Estes Freight in 2008.

Dennis is the son of the late Kermit and Elva Wells. Dennis is survived by his wife Diane Lee Wells of 47
years. Dennis is survived by his son Lee Wells (Allison), daughter Jennie Wells, granddaughter Lindsey
Wells (his little Tadpole). Dennis is also survived by his brothers Roger and Kermit Jr. and his sisters Fran
Carol and Alta. In addition to the Wells family he is survived by his mother-in-law Anne Lee and his in-
laws Bruce and Janet Murray, Tony and Laura Scotti, and David and Julie Lee. He is also survived by
nieces and nephews, Madison, Stephanie, Katie, Samantha, Emily, Josh, Laura Beth, Anderson, Brooks,
and Summer. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Lois Wells and father-in-law Dr. Page Lee.

Dennis loved his granddaughter Lindsey. Lindsey was the light and love of his heart. Dennis enjoyed going on adventures with Lindsey to the post office and around Mars Hill. Dennis also enjoyed spending time with his great nephews, Brady and Miles McDevitt.

Dennis was a longtime member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Dennis was a member of the Choir, served several terms as a Deacon, and was on a variety of other committees. Dennis was also a longtime member of the Mars Hill Lions Club working on numerous service-based projects.

Dennis enjoyed lifting weights and playing golf, especially with his Wednesday golf group. Dennis never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to anyone.

A memorial service for Dennis will be held at Mars Hill Baptist Church on November 3, 2019 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive family and friends following the service.
