Obituary for Dorothy Ann "Dottie" Bargainnier

Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Bargainnier, age 84, died peacefully September 11 at The Greens
in Weaverville, North Carolina, after battling Parkinson’s disease.

Dottie was born January 31, 1939, in Pontiac, Michigan, as the only child of Merrill V.
Hammond and Dorothy E. Denny. She lived in Detroit until 1975 when she married
Roger Bargainnier and moved to Athens, Pennsylvania, where she developed a
secretarial services business. She earned a B.A. from Empire State College, an M.A. in
Social Work from Marywood College and attended Colgate Rochester Divinity School.
Though raised Catholic, her faith commitment was embodied in the United Methodist
Church where she briefly served as a minister in Lockwood, New York.

Dottie and her husband moved to Leicester, near Asheville, North Carolina, in 1994
where she enjoyed life on their eight acres sewing, quilting, supporting community
theater and managing their animal menagerie, until health issues led the couple to
relocate to Mars Hill Manor in Mars Hill, North Carolina.

Dottie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Roger, and two children: Debra Theresa
Becker and Vincent Vizziccaro.

A service of remembrance will be held at Mars Hill United Methodist Church on Sunday,
September 24, 2023, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Special thanks to the staff at The Greens and Mars Hill Manor for their compassionate
care.
