Obituary for Earlene Davis (Radford)
Earlene Radford Davis, 74, wife of Arthur Davis died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022. She lived a joyful life in service to family, friends, and her church. Her kind and sweet spirit was her hallmark.
Born on February 19, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Earl Radford and Gladys Maney Radford of Mars Hill, NC. She graduated from Mars Hill High School in 1966 and Mars Hill College in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Education.
Earlene began her teaching career in Buncombe County at South French Broad Middle School in 1969 where she taught algebra and geometry until 1980. Returning to Mars Hill, Earlene continued teaching in Madison County. She retired in 2006 after a long-distinguished career in education.
Earlene was a lifelong devoted member of Beech Glen Baptist church where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School class, served as Director of the Women’s Missionary Union for over 30 years, and faithfully served in many ministries and on various committees in the church.
In addition to her jobs as teacher and mother, Earlene was a charter member of the Rho chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota National Teachers Organization where she served in numerous roles at the local, state, and national levels, including state president.
Earlene is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur; her son Jeremy and his wife Kellie of Littleton, NC; and two grandchildren Adelaide Davis and Radford Davis. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Radford and his wife Emma Jean of Mars Hill; her aunt, Betty Radford of Mars Hill; nephews K.C. and his wife Maggie of North Bend, Washington, and John and his wife Jocelyn of Mars Hill; brothers-in-law, Ray Davis and his wife Shirley of Goodyear, Arizona, and Jim Davis and his wife Susan of Canton, NC; special cousins Chris and Jane Maney; two great nephews, Jaxtyn Radford and Jarren Radford; and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, with Pastors Shane Cassida and Stanley Peek officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm prior to the service. The burial will follow in the Brigmon-McPeters Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Beaver, Dwayne Buckner, Max Gibbs, Randall Metcalf, Danny Rich, and Bruce Shook.
