Obituary for Elizabeth Moran (Brittingham)

Elizabeth Brittingham Moran, “Beth” to those that knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 28, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 76 years old.

Beth was born in Baltimore Maryland on January 28, 1947 and spent her youth having adventures with her beloved sisters, Judy, Lyn, Marcie, and Jan. Whether it was hopping on a bus to go ice skating downtown or playing in the woods, they always found a way to have fun. She graduated with a degree in English and taught high schoolers for several years before becoming a full time stay at home mom for her son Tim. She later returned to work as an administrator, ultimately retiring from her work with the research review board at John Hopkins University. After retirement, she moved to Asheville to spend more time with Tim, and her grandkids Conor and Finn.

Beth had many passions in life. Her garden was always well tended, and she went there often to find peace. She loved to cook. Baking was one of her favorites and everyone looked forward to her selection of cookies at Christmas. She loved to travel and nearly always had a trip planned. Ocean City with the girls was always high on her list. Pretty much any beach really. She was always in her element there. She also loved visiting places like Jamaica with Ed, Santa Fe and Hawaii and wherever else she could get to.

Most of all, Beth enjoyed spending time with the people (and pets) in her life. Holidays were always big parties with the family. Her friends the “Getaway Girls” often planned outings and her and June would go shopping or out for a bite. She made friends everywhere she went, and everyone loved her joyful personality. She had many friends all over the country from every phase in her life. Beth adored animals, and her black and brown cocker spaniel Bandit was almost always at her side.

Beth was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Brittingham and her father xxxx Brittingham.

She is survived by her son, Tim Moran, daughter-in-law, Renee Moran, and grandsons, Conor Moran and Finn Moran, and her sisters Judy Ward, Lyn White, Marcie Ermer, and Jan Clemmens.

We will be celebrating Beth’s life at St. Joseph’s Church, Fullerton Cemetery where she’ll be laid to rest near her parents. Service will be held at 11am the morning of October 21st, with wake to follow.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society to honor her lifetime love of animals.
