Obituary for Honley Dee "Bun" Etherton
Mr. Honley Dee “Bun” Etherton, 84, of Hot Springs, NC passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
“Bun” was the son of the late Thomas Richard and Mary France Etherton. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Alma Harkleroad Etherton and twelve brothers and sisters. “Bun” was a farmer and in the early 1970’s was awarded for growing the largest, sweet potato in the state. He was a legendary grower of tomatoes and people would literally argue over them.
“Bun” is survived by his son: Dee Etherton and wife Anita, adopted son: David Lawson and wife Dinelle, one sister: Christine Harrison, two grandchildren: Meagan Burrell and husband Darren, and Drew Stafford and wife Destanee, and eleven great grandchildren: Carter, Evie, Lexi, James, Peyton, Nova, Kaitlyn, Kolby, Kase, Joey, and Shea.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 12:30pm in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with the Chaplains Wyllene Skipper and Kelly Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow the service in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hot Springs, NC. The Etherton family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:30pm prior to the service on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Service.
