Obituary for Jeff Chandler

Jeffrey T. Chandler of Charlotte
Jeff, 60, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2022.
A celebration of his life will be held at his graveside ceremony in Gunter Family Cemetery, 645 Flint Hill Rd., Alexander NC, Saturday October 1st at 10:00am.

Mr. Chandler was born on October 22, 1961 in Trenton, MI to Bonita (Patten) and Warren D. Chandler.

Jeff graduated from Gabriel Richard Catholic High, UNC-Asheville Classics, Fullbright Scholar, University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree and attended University of Zurich in Zurich Switzerland. He married his best friend on May 14, 2005. He was raised in the Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Free Masons.

Jeff was very modest about his education and skills. He taught Greek Mythology and Latin at UNCC. He was well-versed in many languages: French, Greek, Latin and minored in German. Jeff enjoyed drawing, reading, computer, movies and trivia.

He was known for being brilliant, generous, loving, inquisitive and quick witted.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 17 years Cynthia (Ball) Chandler; mother: Bonnie (Patten) Chandler; stepchildren: Alex Reader (Brandie), Johanna Machamer and Tanner Gordon; sister: Anita Chandler Hollifield (Keith); grandson: Parker Reader; nephew: Kyle Hollifield; niece: Rachel Hollifield Stanley (David); great-nephews: Channing Gill, Warren Slade Hollifield and Luke Stanley. He was preceded in death by his father Warren D. Chandler; grandparents: Jack and Selma (Norton) Chandler, Harry and Lillian (Gagnon) Patten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
