Obituary for Jerry Augustine Ball
Jerry Augustine Ball, 78, of Mars Hill passed away Monday, May 22, 2023. He was the son of the late William Tecumseh Ball and Verlie Mace Ball. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Dave Ball and wife Gladys; sister Joann Marcena Ball Faulkner and husband Bill and a brother-in-law Tom Hoffner.
Jerry was a kind and caring man who felt much empathy for other people’s troubles. He was a multi-talented man who could do almost anything he put his hand to. He wore many hats. Jerry loved music and played many instruments. He enjoyed passing on his knowledge to others. He never did anything for a show, but in a quiet way, not to receive praise for himself. Jerry was a hard worker; happiest when he had a major project going. Jerry was a wonderful husband.
He is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” English Ball of almost 50 years; his sisters Gertie Jean Hoffner, Irene Black and husband Fred; his brothers Bill Ball and wife Elaine, Dean Ball and wife Susan; brother-in-law Larry English and wife Wanda, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 5:00pm Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Ball Family Cemetery. Reverends Hayes Carver and Justin English will officiate. Those wishing to attend the graveside service may wish to meet and carpool at Calvary Baptist Church due to the limited parking at the cemetery.
Immediately following the graveside, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at Calvary Baptist Church.
