Obituary for JoAnn Holcombe (Anderson)
JoAnn Anderson Holcombe, age 90, of Barnardsville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 17, 2023. She was born on March 8, 1933 in Buncombe County, to the late Anuel and Bertha Harwood Anderson.
JoAnn loved the outdoors. She enjoyed ginseng hunting, hiking, and exploring the mountains.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Jack Holcombe; her daughter, Rita Harwood; 2 sons, Steven, and Richard Holcombe; a sister, Georgia Anderson; 2 brothers, Mack and Cody-Bill Anderson; 2 grandchildren, Amanda and Stevie.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gene Holcombe; sisters, Frances Littrell, and Ruth Griffin; brother Andy Anderson; 9 grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, Jason, Joshua, Laura, Anna, Randy, David, and Adam; 15 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday August 22, 2023, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Jim Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery, Barnardsville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service.
