Obituary for John Glenn Gentry

John “Glenn” Gentry, 52, of Weaverville went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022. Glenn was the son of the late John Willis and Mary Hyatt Gentry. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents; Erskine and Irene Gentry, maternal grandmother; Flora Dean “Dean Dean” Hyatt and his angel babies. Glenn was very kind and always willing to help others. He loved God, all animals, and children. Glenn was a jokester who loved being happy and making others happy. He also enjoyed wrestling and gardening.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife; Katrina Lynn (Cole) Gentry, father in law; James “Roy” Cole, sisters: Kimberly Hammaker (Jeff), Kim Wilson (Duane) and bonus sister, Kim Ponder (Rodney); brothers: Daniel Cole (Wendy), Mark Cole (Mandy), bonus brothers, Eddie Bussard (Anita) and Robert Collins (Amy); Nana; Joyce Brigman; nephews, Jacob, Ethan, Turner and Carter Cole, Joseph Hammaker and Matthew Wilson; nieces, Megan and Alyssa Hammaker, Samantha Wilson, Madelyn, Gracelyn and Kaitlyn Rivera, and Hailey Collins; his special dog, Scooby-Doo. He was loved by so many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, March 14, 2022, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, 870 New Stock Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787. Reverends Steve Rhinehart and his nephew Matthew Wilson will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Service, 7626 Hwy 213, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
