Obituary for Joseph Feldman Garrison

Joseph Feldman Garrison, 81 of Mars Hill, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020. Joe was born April 6, 1939 and grew up in the Sugar Creek community of Barnardsville, N.C. In addition to his parents, Alma and Tom Garrison, he is preceded in death by his sisters Emily Foster and Helen Simpson, brother Arnold Garrison, and in-laws Margaret and Fred Allman. He retired from Thermo Fisher in 2002. He was a veteran of the United States Army and 55-year resident of the Bull Creek Community. Joe was a faithful member of Vision Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Vance Masonic Lodge 293 AM-FM for 58 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Annie Lee Garrison; three children, Terry Garrison (Kay), Steven Garrison (Tonya) and Michael Garrison (Carmen); nine grandchildren, Savannah, Cameron, Lauren, Nathan, Morgan, Katlyn, Erin, Adam, Emily and three great grandchildren, Cooper, Kory and Oaklyn. He is also survived by his sisters Ruth Janes and Fanny Westfall, and brothers Dr. Ben Garrison, Lowell Garrison and Dr. Norman Garrison.

Joe was a devoted, loving husband and sacrificial father, grandfather, and great grandfather who dearly loved his wife and family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed puzzles, birdwatching, sitting in the sun talking with his wife and helping his children and grandchildren with numerous projects.

A graveside memorial service with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Bull Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Reverend Martin Fisher will conduct the service. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

In interim the family will be at their Kelly Hunter Road home.
