Obituary for June Hunter (Estep)
June Estep Hunter, 79, of Weaverville, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was a native of Yancey County having lived most of her life in Buncombe County. June was the daughter of the late Carl and Harriett Ledford Estep. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Christine Swann (Sherrill), Lillie Frost (John Holland), and Patricia Haney (Troy), and a brother, Bobby Estep.
June liked to buy and sell treasures and managed The Bargain Barn in Woodfin for many years. She loved to read and enjoyed animals.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce Hunter; daughter, Dawana “Donna” Ramirez; sons, Darin Hunter (Laura) and Neil Hunter; sisters, Anne Rice (Arnold) and Kate Wilson (Shirl); brother, Charles Estep; grandchildren, Derek and Brenna Ramirez, and Olivia, Isabella, and Davis Hunter; and her beloved fur friend, Dumplin.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday, May 5, 2023, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Ken Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The Hunter family would like to thank the Jupiter Fire Department, The Greens (Formerly the Brian Center), Compassionate Care Hospice, and Mission Hospital Geriatric Unit.
