Obituary for Mabel Ann Carnahan (Smelcer)

Mabel Ann Carnahan graduated to be with her Lord Jesus at age 79 in Spring Creek, North Carolina. She was a loving wife, caring mother to her children and a wonderful friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Lee Carnahan, Sr.

She is survived by her children; James Carnahan, Lee Carnahan, Peggy Sandberg and Mike Stocksdale; grandchildren, Leesa Gaster-Moore, Wesley Carnahan, Camelia Carnahan, Christian Sandberg, MacKensie Carnahan, Felien Gathman, and Mercedes, Eleanor, and Harmony Stocksdale and 7 great grandchildren.

Mabel was a scholar, earning a BA in French and Spanish from Stetson University and a master’s degree at FSU. She ran a branch library in Jacksonville, FL. After a high-risk brain surgery in 1994, Mabel Ann’s walk with God came alive! She retired, rejuvenated her Spanish, and led short-term Christian teams to Cuba. In 2007, she and Victor moved to their mountain cabin where she led an active life in her community. Mabel Ann was a blessing to all who knew her and finished life well.
