Obituary for Mary Kathryn Moss (Davis)

Mary Kathryn Moss, surrounded by her loving family, left her earthly home to live eternally with Jesus on May 29th at the age of 94. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family, and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Other than her parents Kathryn is proceeded in death by her husband of 58 years Clingman Moss; son Clingman Moss Jr, grandchildren Tammy Taffer, Rylin Ferguson, and twins Brenda and Bobby Moss; three brothers, Bob Davis, Franklin Davis, and James Walter Jr. and one sister, Doris Emory.

Surviving are daughters: Mary Taffer (Doyle), Audrey Hilemon, Ann Ledbetter, Becky Taylor (Ed), and Stacy Hawkins. 15 grandchildren; Kay Garrison (Terry), Jimmy Taffer (Tonya), Greg Taffer (Lesa), Brenda Hyatt, Tina Gibson, Eric Moss, Cheryl Ramsey (Christiaan), Lori Langley (David), Dewayne “Bear” Hilemon (Angel), Michael Hilemon, Brett Ledbetter (Regina), Shannon Freeman (Johnny), Harley Ledbetter (Vanessa), Josh Moore (Heather), Keisha Jones (Brandon); 32 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Kathryn was born on June 15, 1926, to James Walter and Beulah Stroupe Davis. Kathryn instilled in her family an admirable work ethic while being employed until she was near the age of 80. Much of her career was in the Nursing Home Care field and then she served in private home care. She was a member of Celebration Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling with the Senior Citizens Group of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, and shopping. Kathryn was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, cross-stitching, and cooking until arthritis plagued her hands.

Thank you is expressed from the family for the prayers and love demonstrated during our time of loss, especially Dalton Ramsey and nephew (Gene Moore). A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Dalton Ramsey will officiate. Burial will follow in Piney Mtn. Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. After the service, the family will be at the fellowship hall at Piney Mountain Church in Weaverville.
