Naomi Smathers Garrison, of Mars Hill, passed away February 9, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Kate Smathers of Canton, NC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Garrison. She was a Mission Belle, having been part of the first graduating nursing class at Mission Hospital. Naomi worked 30 plus years for the Madison County Health department and was a member of the Eastern Star, Vance Chapter #285 for 50 plus years.
Mrs. Garrison is survived by a daughter, Debbie Henderson (Mike); sons, Curtis Garrison (Kim) and Phillip Garrison (Jennifer); sister, Judy Garrison of Atlanta; grandchildren, Wesley Henderson (Tamia), Rachel Carr (Frank), Chris Henderson (Ashley Metcalf), J.T. Garrison (Christine), Chandler, Brandi and Matthew Garrison; great grandchildren, Ayla and Emma Carr, Micah, Ezra, Silas, and Selah Henderson, Kynlie Garrison, Mason English, Jazmine Aldrich, Elena and Sterlene Garrison and Jared Shelton and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Vision Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Martin Fisher officiating.
