Obituary for Phyllis Ann Brown (Hackney)

Phyllis Hackney Edwards Brown, 79, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020, at John F. Keever Solace Center. She was a native of Roane County, WVA, having lived most of her life in Madison County. She is the daughter of the late George and Tiney Moore Hackney. She is also preceded in death by her husbands, Murphy Wesley Edwards and Earl Brown; sisters, Lemmel Thomas, Beula Rhodes and Connie Thomas; and brothers, Paul, Ancil, Romie, and Donzie Hackney. Phyllis is a member of Little Ivy Missionary Baptist Church.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Stephen Edwards (Tracie); James W. Edwards (Anita) and Richard M. Edwards; sister, Linda Nichols; brother, Lovell Hackney; grandchildren, Stephanie D., Dalton W., Brenton W., and Brooklyn N. Edwards, Nathan Lunsford, and Michaela Cole; great grandchildren, Carson and Matthew Cole; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Lena Hensley, Juanita Nash, Wanda Evans, Julious and Karen Abe, Lillian Riddle, and Beverly Berk; and nurse and caretaker, Michael Knicely.

A private graveside service will be held Monday at Edwards Holcombe Family Cemetery. Reverend Scott Dotson will officiate.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Madison Home Health, Mission Hospital, Mars Hill Medical Center, and John F. Keever Solace Center for their loving care to their mother.
