Obituary for Raleigh Joe Fish
Raleigh Joe Fish, 82, passed away after an extended illness on October 3, 2022. Raleigh was a native of Buncombe County and was the son of the late Crawford and Iner Jones Fish. He was preceded in death by sisters: Fostine Fish and Lucille Worley, and brothers: Elbert, Thomas, and Jerry Fish.
Raleigh is survived by his wife of 54 years: Nancy Evans Fish, sons: Wayne Fish of Maggie Valley, NC and Allen Fish and wife Mandy, a grandson: Thatcher, and one brother: Allen “Bud” Fish and April.
Raleigh was a graduate of NC State Agricultural Institute. He had various occupations including Real Estate Broker. Throughout the 70’s, 80’s, his career was spent buying livestock for well-known companies including Winn Dixie, Valley Dale, and Swift. He found great joy raising beef cattle in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee for many years. Raleigh sure was a blessing to this world. He cared about people and quietly helped many people in need.
A funeral service will be held in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 11:00am with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Justus officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. The Fish family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, prior to the funeral.
