Obituary for Robert "Bob" Harvey Moss

Robert Harvey Moss (Bob), 92, of Moss Ridge Drive, Mars Hill, went to be with our Lord, February 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Bertha Moss, and his beloved wife, Evelyn Moss.

Bob was a member of Blue Ridge Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a man of great faith and loved his Lord, as was evidenced by the life that he lived. Bob worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for over 30 years. He worked his way up from being a flagman to a supervisor when he retired. Bob was a good musician and played the guitar and bass. He would play anytime he had a chance. The family had many “pickins’ in the holler at Bob’s house. There would be musicians from all over come and play music until late at night, and of course, lots of food! Bob loved football. He played when he was in high school and never lost his love of the game. In the fall, you would find him in front of the TV watching lots of ballgames. Bob and Evelyn went to the lake camping a lot when the children were small. They fished and swam, and Bob would water ski. Lots of good memories were made there. Bob worked for Capps Funeral Home several years after his retirement from the state. He loved his time working there and made many lifetime friends. Bob never met a stranger and was good to anyone he met. He made a lasting impression on many people and was a friend to everyone.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Penny McNally (David) and Debbie Reese, a brother, J. C. Moss, grandchildren: Josh Reese, Jenny Wheeler (Bobby), Tabitha White (Billy), Matthew Meadows (Emily). He had 10 grandchildren who he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends and family at Blue Ridge Funeral Service on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 11:00 am at Blue Ridge Funeral Service as well. Reverends Randy Blank, Gary Fender, and Gordon Peek will officiate. A burial will follow in Higgins Family Cemetery.
