Obituary for Rev. Bobby Leighton
Rev. Bobby Leighton, 80, of Weaverville, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at his home. He is the son of the late John and Dorothy Penland Leighton and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. In addition to his parents Bobby is preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Leighton Banks, sister, Catherine Leighton, and a brother, Johnny Leighton. He pastored for over 30 years at churches throughout Buncombe and Yancey counties.
Bobby was an avid deer hunter and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bobby was loved deeply by his family, especially his wife of 61 years, Louella Fox Leighton. He is also survived by his son, Robby Leighton, sisters, Mary Evelyn Wilson (Charles) and Peggy Rice; grandchildren, Jason Baker, Tyler Banks, Cole Leighton, Hannah Nash, and Tiffany Banks; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at Old Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Eddie Fox will officiate.
