Mrs. Sherry Shelton Robinson, 58, of Marshall, NC went home to be with the Lord on October 22nd after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Arthur Shelton and the late Ada Jean Shelton.
Sherry is survived by her husband of nearly 41 years: James Kimbal Robinson, her daughter Monica Robinson Ponder and son-in-law Jason Ponder, sisters: Wilma Hensley (Tim), Teresa Holmes (Hank), Sheila Fox (Eddie), and Andrea Faunce (John), step-mother, Kyle Shelton and many beloved nieces & nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Sherry was a wife and mother who filled her home with unwavering love, grace, Godly guidance, patience, humility and a dedication to being fully present for her family. As a woman of many talents, she had a knack for making moments special. She enjoyed singing, writing, drawing, reading, and crocheting.
Sherry was also called “Momma” by most everyone who knew her. Sherry spent her working life serving the people of Madison County and beyond at her restaurant, Momma’s Kitchen. Her made-from-scratch, southern comfort food was cooked and taken to the tables with love. Diligent in her work, she believed that whatever you do, you should do it with love and do it well. Often providing people with more than a good meal, Sherry was a gifted listener and wise advisor. Always prayerful and thoughtful in her responses and meeting everyone with gentleness and kindness.
When not in the kitchen, Sherry could be found on the farm with her husband, tending tobacco, tomatoes, and pumpkin crops, weed-eating the grass, and working in the garden.
Sherry walked by faith and exuded a love of the Lord that flowed from her every word and deed. Sherry was a longstanding member of Freedom Christian Church in Marshall where she sang in the Freedom Singing Group, led morning song worship, taught children’s Sunday School, and served on the Board of Trustees. During the last years of her life, Sherry was also a member of North Buncombe Church of God in Reems Creek.
Though her time on Earth was far too short, her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
The family would like to thank her very dear Oncology Nurse, Deborah Robinson, as well as the staff at Advent Health Oncology, Compassionate Care of WNC Hospice, and Solace Center.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, October 27, 2022, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with the Reverends Dennis Anderson, Eddie Fox, Eric Young, and Allen Grooms officiating.
