Obituary for Susie Merrill (Hyatt)
Susie Hyatt Merrill, 52 of Marshall, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020. She is the daughter of Larry Hyatt and the late Delores Shannon Hyatt and a native of McDowell County having lived most of her life in Madison County. Susie is the owner of Burlap Boutique in Mars Hill. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her son, Josh Merrill; and father-in-law, Harold Lane Merrill.
Susie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Tim Merrill; sons, Jordan Merrill (Adrienne) and Jake Merrill (Heather); sister, Mironda Whitlow (Brad); grandchildren, Kylie and Jackson Jewel; Asher, Bryson, Jace, Raelyn, Julia, and Audrey Merrill; and Johnny and Joshlyn Burchfield; daughter-in-law, Leanne Burchfield (Josh); and mothers-in-law, Margaret Robertson and Carolyn Merrill.
A memorial service will be held at 6pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverend Kevin Barnette will officiate.

Susie was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a mother first and foremost and was devoted to the Madison County Youth League Baseball program, as well as the Madison High School Baseball program for many years as the “baseball mom”. Susie’s faith, strength and courage were an inspiration to all who knew her, and she will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
