Obituary for Suzanne Rice (Clay)
Suzanne "Lee" Rice, 73, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on February 9, 2021. Lee was born to the late Herman and Ruth Fite Clay, on April 21, 1947 in Asheville, North Carolina. Suzanne and Roy "Alvin" Rice were married on August 10, 1964 in Asheville, North Carolina. They moved to Orlando, Florida in 1967. Together they raised 4 children: Suzanne "Susan”, Charles "Danny ", Sandra and Marsha. She moved to Marion, North Carolina in June of 2019. Lee worked for the Orange County School Board for 18 years. She retired from Sadler Elementary in 2000, shortly after moving to Clermont, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Roy "Alvin" Rice; daughter, Suzanne "Susan" Burnette; sister, Sheila Clay Stevens and brother, Steve Lanning.
Lee enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, reading, circle/crossword puzzles and crafts. She also loved playing games on her iPad and taking care of the many animals she had while living in Clermont; cows, miniature horse, donkeys, chickens, cats, and dogs.
She is survived by her son, Charles "Danny" Rice; daughters, Sandra (Jamie) Ellingsworth and Marsha (Ronnie) Pridgeon; sister, Gayle White; grandchildren Troy Ellingsworth, James Ellingsworth Jr., Kasey Ellingsworth, Jacob Burnette, and Olivia Burnette; and great grandchildren, Zavier Ellingsworth, Troy Ellingsworth Jr., James Ellingsworth III, Kalanis Ellingsworth, and Landon Ellingsworth.
A graveside service will be held 11:00am Friday, February 12, 2021 at Gabriel’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
