Obituary for Teresa Ann Proffitt (Tapp)

Teresa Ann Proffitt (Tapp) was born on April 10, 1957 in Erwin, TN. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2020 in Jonesborough TN, at the age of 63 years.

Teresa will be remembered as a family-focused woman who loved children. She generously poured her time, attention and love into her biological children, her grandchildren, and the many children she cared for in the foster care system. Teresa was also quick to respond to the needs of her immediate and extended family.

Teresa also had a passion for caring for the elderly. She gave many years of her life to assisting families with the in-home care of their loved ones.

Teresa is survived by her mother, Wanda Tapp; beloved husband of 43 years, Terry Proffitt, two sons: Terry Jr. of Jonesborough TN, and Adam (Allison) of Johnson City TN; her loving grandchildren, Robbie Proffitt of Jonesborough TN, Isabella Proffitt of Johnson City TN, and Jack Proffitt of Johnson City TN; brothers Rick Tapp of Erwin TN, TIm Tapp (Amy) of Elizabethton TN; nieces and nephews from the Tapp side of the family: Carrie Williams (Tyler), John Tapp, and Emily Tapp. Teresa is also survived by a large extended family on the Proffitt side.

Because of the pandemic, there will be no public visitation with the family. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 27 at Laurelton Chapel Cemetery with pastors Ken Parker and Tim Tapp presiding. Active pallbearers include Adam Proffitt, Terry Proffitt Jr., Gary Proffitt, Reagan Proffitt, Scottie Proffitt, Steven Proffitt, Ricky Proffitt, and Tony Ball.

Teresa lived a meaning-filled life of service to God, her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, and Mamaw. She will be missed greatly, but her legacy of faith has left an impact that will last for generations.
