RIP dear Velma. Our Gentry, Bishop, Wallin roots run deep! They arrived in North America mid-1600’s and moved to Madison
County in mid-1800’s. I think your parents were the first to move into Buncombe Co. They were a tough, loving clan and you represented them well. You and my Mother were almost sisters. I am grateful to call you “family”.

Velma was a fine christian lady, who always made you feel like she was happy to see you. She was always so appreciative when i worked on her VW beetle. We know she is home now healed and happy to be with loved ones. May God bless and comfort her family and friends.

I remember Ms Beck from back in the late 70s when I worked at my dad's vw shop. She was such a classy beautiful lady and always so kind and pleasant. Then seeing her at Mountain View church almost every time I went. Her faithfulness to God and her church and friends and family will live on. She would request "I will meet you in the morning" to be sung many times. That is now a reality she is safely home with no more cares and peace and joy forevermore. May God comfort her loved ones.

We will always cherish our memories of our dear friend Velma. She was a wonderful, friendly and caring person. Her friends and her church family will miss her greatly as we have missed her presence over these last many months. She used to call Ila and Shirley several times a week and reminisce about her past. She treasured her friendship with Rex Freeman and always looked forward to going out to eat after church as this was her weekly outing. We were greatly saddened over her decline both mentally and physically and missed her calls and not being able to talk with her. We know she is in a much better place now, a happy and joyful place, where she will have a brand new body and rid of her dementia and can be reunited with her family and friends that were waiting for her to come home.
