Obituary for Wanda Haynes (Calloway)

Wanda Calloway Haynes, 72, of Weaverville, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022. She was born to the late Ralph W. and Bernice Hylemon Calloway. Wanda is also preceded in death by grandparents: George and Atchie Hylemon; daughter: Dena Rice; grandson: Jerrod Haynes and sister Jean Calloway.

Wanda was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was very involved in many organizations of service through out her years. She was a giver and always seemed to put everyone else’s needs before her own. She was a worker and always achieved excellence in all that she worked towards. Anyone that knew Wanda knew the love she had for her family, friends and especially little children. Wanda loved life, she loved the beach, fellowshipping, cooking and quiet time to work on her cryptoquote. She said it helped keep her mind sharp . Wanda was loved and appreciated by so many, she will be deeply missed by those who had an opportunity to know her.

Wanda is survived by her son Chris Haynes (Michelle); grandson: Nathan Haynes; beloved partner: Paul Keener; sisters: Rita Ingram (Bob)and Pam Terry (Norman); bonus family: Shannon Taylor (Alan); granddaughters Madison and Grayson Taylor, Tracy Kuster (Tom); nieces and nephews: Cody Terry (Candice), Christi Terry, Bretta Murray (Dawn), Kenny Murray (Melissa); great nieces and nephews: Avery Carlos, March and Maddock Murray, Thai and Ashtyn Murray.

The family will have a celebration of life in Wanda’s honor 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Woodfin Town Hall. There will be light refreshments served during this time. The family ask that if you would like to share a story about Wanda, please come prepared to share in her memory.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church’s Bible Camp, PO Box 96, Barnardsville, NC 28709.
