Alma Viola Owenby Hopson, 72, of Canton, NC, born on May 18, 1949, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, in her home in Canton. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Viola Tweed Owenby.

Alma is survived by her husband of 49 years, David Hopson, who's anniversary was November 27, 1972. She is also survived by her sons, David Hopson II and wife, Elizabeth Hopson of Canton, and Matthew Hopson and wife, Amanda Rice of Fairview; a daughter, Sherri Hopson of Canton; and five grandchildren, David Hopson III, Johnathan, Jaden, Jacob, and Alayna Hopson.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, December 3, 2021, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Cruso United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Alma was loved dearly and will be missed. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother.
