Alvin McMahan, age 92 of Mars Hill passed away Monday, March 9, 2015. He is the son of the late David and Rena Metcalf McMahan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Polly Hensley McMahan; brothers, Ray McMahan and Gaither McMahan; sisters, Thelma Field, Dexter Hensley, Lillie Proffitt and Ada McGhee. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Hopps (Rev. Cecil) of Mars Hill; grandsons, Len Hopps (Amy) and Bryan Hopps (Beverly); and great grandchildren, Leslie Carpenter (Leon), Lauren, Kevin, Justin, Katlyn, and Jeffrey Hopps. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11th in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel at Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Seth Metcalf and Michael Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at Paint Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
