Anna Margaret Hines, 87, of Asheville and formerly of Mars Hill, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Givens Estates. She was a native of Graham, Texas, having lived most of her life in Western North Carolina. Ms. Hines was the daughter of the late James Cleveland and Hattie Walker Hines. She received her PhD from the University of Missouri and retired as a music professor from Mars Hill University. Ms. Hines was a community volunteer, animal lover, an excellent pianist and was sweet as pie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Maria Hines. Ms. Hines is survived by her brother, Joseph W. Hines of Arlington, VA. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Reverends Tommy Justus and Ann Morgan will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
