Anne Cornelius Russell, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her daughters. She was born on August 30, 1945, to the late William F. Cornelius and Jessie Neil Cornelius.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her first husband, longtime friend and father of her children, Lewis Ewell; her late husband, David Russell; granddaughter, Justice Cooper; and aunts, Adrina Butler and Agnes Lyon.

Anne devoted more than 50 years of her life to the nursing profession, caring for countless individuals and families throughout her career. Of all the areas in which she served, labor and delivery held a special place in her heart. She found great joy in being part of such meaningful moments in the lives of new mothers and their families.

Outside of nursing, Anne was an avid and talented knitter. She especially enjoyed creating knitted toys and could often be found shopping for just the right yarn for her next project. In her younger years, Anne also enjoyed singing in a band, a fond chapter of her life that reflected her love of music.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Aimee Ewell of St. Petersburg, Florida, William Ewell of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Jessica Ewell of the home, and Jennifer Wilson (Bruce) of Barnardsville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Cody Duncan (Stephanie), Rio Crowe, Travis Wilson (Emily), and Autumn Shepard (Gage), and grandson by choice, Nathanial Nieman; 11 great-grandchildren; several cousins including a very special one, John Cornelius, whom she cherished from abroad; and her 15 beloved fur babies.

Anne will be remembered for her many years of caring for others, her creativity, her love of family and animals, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
