MARS HILL: Ava Delta Chandler Arrington, 99, of 1517 Long Branch Rd., went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 16, 2011. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the wife of the late Jerome "Rome" Arrington and daughter of the late Emery and Quintennie Buckner Chandler. She was also preceded in death by children; G. C and Reba Arrington, step-son, Max Arrington, grandson, Jerome, sisters; Zettie Waycaster, Julie Rice, Ollie Shelton, Tennie Shelton and Lessie Chandler and brother, Bryan Chandler. Ava was a homemaker and a member of Ivy Ridge Church of God.

Survivors include her daughter where she made her home Ernestine Evelyn Gosnell, sons, Rubin (R.S.) Arrington and wife Julie, James (Doc) Arrington and wife Ann, four grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Special friends; Brenda Bowens, Mary Woods, nephew Michael Arrington and several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 18, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Revs Winston Lloyd, George Norton, David Watson and Anson Johnson will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be; Jonathan Boles, Leonard Gosnell, Rubin, Mike and Roy Arrington, Analo Phillips, E. L. Blankenship and Jimmy Shelton, honorary pallbearers will be; George Blankenship, Harley Rice, Carl Osgood, Jack Shelton and Warren Cody. Burial will follow in Meadow Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
