IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Emory
Chandler
April 11, 1934 – April 16, 2025
Barbara Emory Chandler, age 91, of Mars Hill, NC went to Heaven on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 11, 1934 in Weaverville N.C. to the late Woodson and Flossie Emory.
Barbara enjoyed working in her flower garden, and took pride in having a beautiful and tidy home both inside and out. She loved spending time with her family, whether birthday celebrations, family trips to the beach, or a simple visit enjoying a cold glass of sweet iced tea or a cup of Maxwell House coffee. She was always quick to brag about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent a lot of time planning and cooking for the annual Emory Reunion and so loved reminiscing about days gone by. She retired after a long successful career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Barbara was independent, strong and determined and worked hard every day, long after retirement.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Woodson and Flossie; brother, Emmett Emory.
She is survived by her sister, Sandy Bailey (George); son, John L Chandler (Faye); daughter, Tammie Chandler; grandchildren, Brian Chandler (Kendall), Kelly Evans (Shannon), Gretchen Keim (Josh); great grandchildren, John Chandler (Chelsey), Honey Jo Chandler, Quill Chandler, Andie Evans, Morgan Evans, Warner Bellard and Calder Keim.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Care Partners Hospice.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralservice.org.
