MARSHALL: Betty Sams Marler, 93, of Sams Dr., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, September 20, 2010 at Missions Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County. Mrs. Marler was born July 4, 1917 to the late Ed and Mary Searcy Sams. Also preceding her in death were her loving husband, James Buford Marler and a son, James (Peanut) Marler. She was a member of Freeman Gap Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children; Barry "Chick" Marler, Rev. Johnny Bud Marler (Betty), Jack Marler (Teresa), Ann Gibson, Pansy Morris, Carol Marler, Beulah Payne, a special daughter, Suzzanne Holder and a special son, James Holder (Crystal), daughter in law, Rachel Marler, nineteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Revs J. B. Shetley, Mack Revis and Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate. Burial will be in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Marler.
