On April 4th, 2024, in the presence of his daughters, Billy Mitchell English concluded a life well lived. He was born and raised in the Upper Laurel area of Mars Hill N.C. Billy was the youngest son of the late Flossie Howell & Robert Zelf English. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his two brothers Robert and Roy English, one sister Alice Gilliam and three grandchildren, Creatha Hope Jenkins, Keller and Kieffer Lindsey.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his three daughters and their spouses, Janet & Arling Rice, Susan & John Mintz and Alisha & James Lindsey. His best friends Josh & Susan Ramsey, Scotty English, Tommy Beale, Foy Buckner and his little dog, Bandit. Grandchildren are Timothy Moody, Brook Rice, Tiffany Jenkins, Morgan Pate, Tamera Jenkins, Tenicia Fish, Kailey Lindsey, Kylie Lindsey, Blaze Rice and Juliet Lindsey. Great Grandchildren are Nova, Denver, Drake, Hunter, Weston, Elijah, Layne, Hutson, Karoline, Craten and Rose and several nieces and nephews.

Billy was a mechanic by trade but throughout his life he did so much more. He was the neighbor that you could always count on, whether it was for car trouble, a helping hand or if you just wanted to trade on old junk cars. He was a known prankster, a professional highway loafer and the best gravy maker in the world. He loved his family & friends more than anything and he will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 7th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Billy will be cremated, and his ashes scattered in a private ceremony.
