Bobby Joe Hernandez, age 80, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Joseph and Velva Buckner Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his wife Esta Lee Hernandez. He was a retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a deacon at Peeks Chapel Baptist Church, and a member of Bald Creek Lodge #397 AF&AM. He is survived by his son, Gary Hernandez (Tina) of Mars Hill; half sister, Nadine Fisher of Mars Hill; and a grandson, Derek. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 31st at the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Reverends Jerry Wheeler and Billy Murray officiating.
