Bobby Gene Nix, 74, of 3 Nix Drive died Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was a native of Buncombe County and the son of the late Millard and Pearl Randall Nix. Mr. Nix was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church and owner of Victory in Jesus Motor Sports of the ASA Racing Circuit where he was a 2009 Champion Crew Chief at Lonesome Pine Speedway. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Roberts Nix of the home; daughters, Sheila Calvert (Ron) of Hendersonville, Teresa Nix of the home; sons, Kenny Nix of the home, James Nix of Cherokee; grandchildren, Eric Haney (Anissa) of Sweden, Matthew Haney of Florida, Rachel Haney of Asheville, Katie Warren (Taylor) of Hendersonville and Kendall Nix of Mars Hill; great grandchildren, Elijah and Malachi Haney and Bailey Warren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Albert Roberts, Cotton Banks, Kenneth Crain and Eric Haney will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elk Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 PM Saturday, December 28, at the funeral home.
