Bobby Joe Raby, 75, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He is the son of the late Oscar and Inez Taylor Raby and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Bobby retired from Estes Trucking and was an avid bowler for years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Independent Baptist Church in West Asheville, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Hurst; twin sister, Peggy Rice; and two brothers, Joel and Hubert Raby.

Bobby leaves behind his lifelong love of 50 years, his wife, Joan Riddle Raby; daughter, Pamela Dailey; son, Kevin Raby; brother, Yuel "Red" Raby (Roberta); sister-in-law, Diane Raby; grandchildren, Heather (Tim), Haley (Will), Hope (Kas), and Heath; 6 great grandchildren, Kayden, Grayson, Teagan, Colton, Joshlyn, and Layton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Reverends Powell Young and Kevin Raby will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
