IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Elaine
Levins
October 12, 1950 – March 10, 2026
Celebration Of Life for Brenda Elaine Levins
Blue Ridge Funeral & Cremation Service
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
With heavy hearts and deep love, we celebrate the life of Brenda Myers Levins, who transitioned from this Earth on March 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of 75.
Brenda was born on October 12, 1950, in Oakland, California. Throughout her life she carried a vibrant spirit, a quick laugh, and a deep love for the people and animals she cared for so dearly. Those who met Brenda knew her warmth immediately—she had a way of making people feel welcome, supported, and loved.
Her father was in the U.S. Navy and stationed in the Stockton Navy Shipyard. After one year, they were transferred to San Diego! The following year her brother was born and 3 years later she had another little brother. When the baby, Jim, was a year old the family went to Guam, Mariannas Island. They lived there for two years where Brenda went to the first grade. Being a navy brat, she moved a lot.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert John “Bob” Levins, who passed away in August 2018, and also, she was preceded in death by her brother, William F. Myers, in August 2017 with brain cancer. Their marriage, beginning in 1991, was an admirable partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion. Brenda and Bob loved traveling the world together, spreading Christmas cheer, and creating a beautiful life full of amazing memories.
Early in life, Brenda married David J Cook Sr., and together they raised their two beautiful sons in Jacksonville, Florida. Her greatest pride and joy was always her family.
Brenda is survived by her sons, David J. Cook and Daniel J. Cook and his spouse Mary Morgan; her stepsons, Clay Levins and his spouse Lorrie, and John Levins and his spouse Stephanie. She also leaves behind her loving mother, Mattie Lawanna Childers; her brother, Jim Childers; and many cherished grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
During her career, Brenda worked for Automatic Data Processing, which eventually brought she and Bob to Memphis, Tennessee in the late 1990s. After retiring in Germantown, Tennessee, she found one of her greatest passions in gardening. Brenda became a triple-certified Master Gardener and worked part-time in a nursery simply because she loved being around plants and sharing her knowledge with others.
In 2011, Brenda and Bob purchased their retirement home in Clayton, Georgia, where she embraced the mountain life she loved. Her days were often filled with making arts and crafts, gardening, caring for her beloved cats and dogs, and spending time with friends and family.
Brenda will always be remembered for her joyful laugh, her generous heart, and the way she cared deeply for the people and animals in her life. She was the kindest person who showed up for others, offered encouragement when it was needed most, and found happiness in the simple things—flowers blooming in the garden, time spent with family, or a trip on the road with Bob.
Her infinite love will live on forever in the family she raised, the gardens she tended, and the countless memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00pm in the in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service in Mars Hill.
