Obituary

Brenda Ray Reavis of Weaverville NC passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 4, 2026

Affectionately known as Nana and also as Aunt Bea, she was born March 3, 1943 to Maunt J. and Pansy Hensley Ray of Mars Hill. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband Don were faithful children's Sunday School teachers and choir members at First Baptist Church of Murphy, NC and Flat Creek Baptist Church for many years. She loved flowers and beauty in all its forms, and enjoyed interior decoration. She especially loved decorating for the Christmas and Easter seasons, and traveling to Charleston, SC with Don in the fall. Aunt Bea loved a good meal, and Italian food was her favorite.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Reavis, and brother Clyde Ray

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph D. Reavis (Susan), granddaughters Amanda Williams (David) and Sarah Gillespie (David) and great granddaughter Kate Gillespie, brother Danny Ray (Kim), sisters-in-law Mildred Ray, Helen Coyle, and Margaret Revis, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14th at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 2:00, with funeral at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Flat Creek Church Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, as well as donations to Flat Creek Baptist Church at 21 Flat Creek Church Road Weaverville, NC 28787 and/or Gideons International, PO Box 1182, Marshall, NC 28754 or online at sendtheword.org.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and Upstate Community Hospice House - Agape Care for their help and loving care during Nana' s last days with us.
